  • BLits Games and "Jock Studio" raise over 200K on Kickstarter

BLits Games is known for Camp Buddy a Yaoi visual novel that changed the way people think about Yaoi gameplay back in 2018. But while your here, have you ever heard about Kickstarter campaigns blowing past their funding goals in just a few hours? Yeah, me too, but I bet you haven't heard of the Yaoi gaming industry doing the same, right? Let's talk about "Jock Studio". BLits Games has been churning out some high quality Yaoi games for a while. Their latest masterpiece? "Jock Studio," a Yaoi visual novel that's got everyone talking and wallets flying open. They recently launched a Kickstarter for it and would you believe it - they racked up $200,000 in just a few hours! Yeah, you heard right - 200 grand! You might be wondering, what's the big deal about a game raising a lot of money? Well it is for the Yaoi community. We lack games and content. "Jock Studio" fills this gap. It's a college story revolving around our main guy, Ace Anderson. He's a bit lost, like most of us were when we first started college, and that's what makes this game so much fun. That and of course all the main coarse dishes of smutty jocks. As a player, you get to guide Ace through the unchartered territory of Olympus University, an all-boys sports college. Trust me, it's as chaotic and fun as it sounds. Throughout the game, you meet the boys. There's Leo, the energetic soccer player; Avan, the swimmer and student council president who's all mystery; and others who you'll just have to discover on your own. But why should we care about this? Well, beyond it being a damn good game demo, it's also a huge indicator of the rising popularity and demand for Yaoi and BL visual novels in the gaming community. We've got studios like BLits Games, Man Eater Games, and Y Press Games making some serious waves in the industry. The outpouring of support for these games on Kickstarter isn't just exciting; it's a loud and clear signal that Yaoi is only going to get bigger. The Kickstarter success is just the tip of the iceberg. Over here at Boys Love Universe, we've seen how Yaoi games can bring people together, spark joy, and inspire creativity. We've loved experiencing game demos like "Jock Studio," and we're stoked about the idea of contributing to this thriving genre. That's why we're not just playing Yaoi games; we're also working on our very own Yaoi visual novel - "I Married a Monster on a Hill." It's our little way of adding to this vibrant and growing Yaoi universe. The success of Yaoi games on Kickstarter isn't just about the cash - it's way bigger than that. It's about acknowledging the power and potential of Yaoi as a genre. It's about celebrating the creativity and dedication of the Yaoi community. And it's about embracing the love and passion we share for Yaoi.

  • "My Burning Heart" Yaoi Visual Novel Review

"My Burning Heart" Yaoi Visual Novel Review Rating: 7 out of 10 In the world of Yaoi Boys Love Games, "My Burning Heart" is a simmering tale that mixes intrigue, passion, and a dash of danger. Born from the creative minds of Ertal (developer, writer, and PR) and 6nii9 (main artist), this Kickstarter success story stands as a tribute to the erotic stories of the 1001 Nights. But how does it hold up against our Yaoi Visual Novel Ranking Roster? Let's find out. What Works The game shines brightest in its captivating storytelling. The narrative is immersive and entertaining, and its 60-75k word count guarantees hours of engaging gameplay. The developers have captured the essence of a 1001 Nights world, replete with the allure and mystique associated with it. The story of Adnan, sold as a slave and winding up in a Sultan's harem, presents the player with a mix of passion and tension. When it comes to romantic elements, "My Burning Heart" doesn't disappoint. It offers two romantic m/m routes, each with a good and bad ending, adding to the game's replayability. What Didn't While the overall execution of "My Burning Heart" is commendable, it falters slightly in terms of content warnings. The trigger warning for light dub-con and non-consensual content in one of the bad endings, although necessary, could be more clearly indicated in the game itself. Furthermore, while the project was ambitious and promising, the time constraints during development were evident. The team's enthusiasm is undeniable, but the rush in certain areas left some aspects of the game feeling a tad underdeveloped. Art Style The art style of "My Burning Heart" is undoubtedly one of its standout features. 6nii9's illustrations bring life to this exotic tale, with 16 stunning CGs, most of which are +18 rated. The images are rich, vibrant, and add to the overall immersive experience. The character designs and the various CG variants also contribute to the game's enticing appeal. Writing Style Ertal's writing style is engaging and detailed, particularly during the adult scenes. The writer succeeds in capturing the tension, passion, and conflict within the harem's confines. However, the complexity of the narrative could be better balanced with more character development and dialogues that delve deeper into their motivations and feelings. Personal Opinion "My Burning Heart" is a sultry and exciting addition to Boys Love Universe's Yaoi Visual Novel collection. It's not perfect, but its strengths overshadow its weaknesses. The story is engaging, the art is impressive, and the romantic options provide a healthy mix of sweetness and angst. Furthermore, I appreciate how the creators weren't afraid to explore more mature themes. However, a more nuanced approach could have elevated the narrative and made for a more impactful game experience. In the future, I'd like to see more emphasis on character development and emotional depth. Exploring the complex dynamics within the harem, as well as a deeper dive into Adnan's personal growth, would add another layer to the gameplay. Boys Love Universe's Verdict: "My Burning Heart" is an intriguing and passionate tale that will surely appeal to BL game enthusiasts. Though it has its flaws, it's a commendable effort with enough charm to keep you engaged until the end. Looking forward to seeing more from this creative team! Stay tuned for more reviews and don't forget to check out Boys Love Universe's BL gameplays for a deeper insight into all your favorite BL visual novels. • "To Trust an Incubus" Yaoi Visual Novel Review

Rating: 7 out of 10 Alright, folks, buckle up! We're in for a wild ride through an interdimensional love-fest with "To Trust an Incubus" from Y Press Games. This uncensored, adults-only dating sim boldly marries Yaoi/Bara with unapologetically servings of hunky incubi in a sci-fi setting. While it stumbles here and there, overall, it's a daring and enjoyable game worth its salt. Also it's from Y Press Games which you know is one of the leading studios producing Yaoi focused games. To Trust an Incubus Storyline The premise of "To Trust an Incubus" is not your everyday Yaoi plot. An average temp worker, Kenta, stumbles into a job at a lab, housing four hunky incubi in quarantine. An interdimensional portal, mysterious previous visitors, and potential threats to Earth — there's a huge lore dosage of story chuck full in this game. Sure, it's a little convoluted at times, but what good sci-fi plot isn't? The game boasts four different routes and tons of unique endings based on a stats system. Playing it I had no idea which ending was going to be my favorite or if I had to do any certain performance stats to unlock a different ending. Admittedly, it's a bit ambitious, and sometimes the stats system can feel a tad perplexing. But once you get the hang of it (for me it was right away), you're in for a thrill, going through the different narratives, making choices that will either grant you that sweet happily-ever-after or land you in some twisted, screwed up endings. The Characters Each incubus in the game carries a unique backstory, influencing their interactions with the others in the quarantine. The result? Relationships that range from 'enemies to lovers' to 'hurt/comfort' pairings. Kudos to the writers for crafting characters that add depth to the game instead of following Yaoi tropes. One particular praise-worthy aspect of this game is the mini-games. That and there's more to the love stories than just physical attraction, and that's where the game truly shines. The Artwork The artwork is downright drool-worthy, to say the least. The artists have done a remarkable job of creating sexy, muscular men who cater to Bara/Yaoi fans. Even if you lean more towards one genre, you'd find it hard to resist the other. It's also pretty accurate to queer media instead of catering to a more "moe" style. Voice Acting and Soundtrack While voice acting does add another layer of immersion to the game, the quality could've been better. The soundtrack, though, deserves a mention. Original tracks accompanying the spicy scenes? It definitely enhances the overall gaming experience. What Didn't Work? Despite its strengths, "To Trust an Incubus" falls short in a few areas. The dialogues at times can feel a little stilted and could have done with some more polishing. The stats system is not as intuitive as one would like for their first time playing the game but if you're used to playing visual novels you'll get the hang of it. Final Thoughts Overall, "To Trust an Incubus" takes you into an actual story that is sure to leave you wanting more. Most Yaoi skips over the plot and dives into the sex scenes and throbbing dicks, but "To Trust an Incubus" takes all of that and tosses it into an actual plot. While it does have its pitfalls, it more than makes up for them with its interesting plot, well-developed characters, and stunning artwork. If you're a fan of the genres and up for some spicy, adult-only content, this game is worth giving a shot. It's been fun revisiting this game, and if you'd like to experience it for yourself, Boys Love Universe has some gameplays of all the BL Visual Novels coming up on YouTube, including this one. What's more, we're developing an exciting BL universe, "I Married a Monster on a Hill" that primarily focuses on BL content from games, books, and comics. So, "To Trust an Incubus" snags a solid 7 out of 10 in my book. Now, onto the next Yaoi adventure!

  • 'A Hand in the Darkness' Yaoi Visual Novel Review

So, I've dived into the world of "A Hand in the Darkness", and as someone who has enjoyed a few of Ertal Games' projects I knew it was going to be an enjoyable gameplay. I don't tend to do gameplays (I'll leave that to the founders of Boys Love Universe on YouTube coming soon), but I do write reviews because I love Yaoi, I love visual novels and I love jotting down my thoughts at random to scribble up a review on anything BL. Plus I love supporting visual novel creators over here on Boys Love Universe. If you're interested in getting your game reviewed by me check out my profile here! We are also planning future gameplays so if you'd like to work with us just let us know on our partner page! 'A Hand in the Darkness' Rating 6 out of 10 Set in the lustrous Edwardian era, this visual novel follows Alex, a newcomer to St. Michaels, an all-male boarding school of note. Now, we've all heard of the common plot trope of love interests sprouting in a boarding school setting, but this, this is different. This isn't your run-of-the-mill soppy love saga. It's a bit of an emotional roller coaster and a game that left me wide-eyed more times than I could count. Some routes are really messsed up and others are sweet. I also have a soft spot for school-based games so this was was my cup of tea. The Basics Developed by Ertal Games, a powerhouse with a passion for Yaoi and manga, “A Hand in the Darkness” takes you on a 15-hour rollercoaster ride that boasts more than 85,000 words. Three love interests, good and bad endings for each, all set within the classy backdrop of a British Edwardian era boarding school? Sign me up! The Art and Aesthetics Alright, let's talk aesthetics. The game has its visual charm, with well-drawn characters and an overall pleasing aesthetic. The additional 9 CGs funded by the game's successful campaign add a rich layer to the visual storytelling. However, it's the backgrounds that take the cake. Some of the art could have been a bit better such as a less soft look and more details on the eyes, but it is still a beautiful piece. The Story and Characters The narrative is where this game shines. It weaves a sweet tale filled with unexpected dangers and blossoming relationships. Alex, our protagonist, navigates through the complexities of friendship and romance within the exclusive confines of St. Michaels, and boy does it make for some quality drama. Again I have a soft spot of academy, boarding school or just school stories in general so I might be a bit biased. The writing at times makes the dialogue seem offbeat but its plot makes up for it. The three love interests offer diverse personalities and backstories, each bringing something to the plot. The good and bad endings for each route offer high replayability and ensure that each playthrough feels like a fresh experience. The Voice Acting and Music Now, let's get to the sound of it all. Unfortunately, “A Hand in the Darkness” does not feature voice acting, but don't let that get you down. The game compensates with a solid soundtrack that captures the atmosphere. The Gameplay Mechanics Gameplay in “A Hand in the Darkness” follows the traditional visual novel format. You make choices that steer Alex's relationships and ultimately decide his fate. It's simple, intuitive, and allows for the narrative to take center stage. The Extras The game also includes some additional features such as a customized textbox and GUI improvements. These little tweaks add a polished touch to the game, making it more visually appealing and user-friendly. Personal Thoughts As for my personal take? “A Hand in the Darkness” is a solid entry in the Yaoi visual novel scene. It delivers a gripping narrative, dynamic characters, and a genuine portrayal of love and friendship within the context of an Edwardian-era boarding school. Plus more slice of life Yaoi is always good to have in the industry. While the lack of voice acting and some pacing, dialogue and direction the story went is a slight let-down, the engaging characters more than make up for it. It’s a game that manages to strike a balance between light-hearted romance and intense drama, providing a satisfying journey from start to finish. If you're a fan of Yaoi, visual novels, or just a sucker for a good ol' fashioned love story with a twist, “A Hand in the Darkness” is well worth your time. So, go ahead, give it a whirl and get lost in the captivating world of St. Michaels. Until next time, folks! Keep the fires burning and the Yaoi flowing.

  • "Alpha Hole Prison" Yaoi Visual Novel Review

"Alpha Hole Prison" Rating 8 out of 10 Alright, today we're hitching a ride with "Alpha Hole Prison" from Y Press Games. We're in for an intergalactic dating sim extravaganza that's as wild as its name suggests. Ready to blast off? Strap in! The Basics Sex. Aliens. Intergalactic space prison? Alpha Hole Prison lands us right in the thick of things. Miguel Santos, our Earthling, finds himself sentenced to life in the notorious space prison, Alpha Hole. Now, he's got to use his wits and charisma to survive. On paper, it's a classic dating sim setup, spiced up with a sci-fi twist. But trust me, the game delivers more than it promises. Plus just like "To Trust an Incubus" it's sci-fi with a twist. The Art and Aesthetics First off, let's appreciate the visuals. The character designs in Alpha Hole Prison are brilliantly done - oozing with personality. The character art isn't fully detailed, but the CGs are plentiful and beautifully crafted, over 300 in total. Props to the art team for delivering! The Story and Characters The story of Alpha Hole Prison may tread familiar ground, but it's not without its charms. Sure, it's got its fair share of Yaoi clichés, but there's also an undercurrent of originality that keeps things interesting. And the characters? They're the heart of this game. They're stereotypes at times, yes, but they're stereotypes done right. Each character is unique, memorable, and full of life. Plus the sexy scenes and the writing for those scenes is top notch compared to a lot of other adult visual novels. The rawness to it is a huge appeal. The Voice Acting and Music Voice acting in Alpha Hole Prison is a mixed bag - some characters are voiced exceptionally well, while others are a bit hit-and-miss. But the game's musical score more than makes up for this. With 24 exclusive tracks, Alpha Hole Prison brings an impressive array of tunes that perfectly complements the game's atmosphere. The Gameplay Mechanics Alpha Hole Prison sticks to the tried-and-true mechanics of the dating sim genre. Your choices shape the story, and every route promises a happy ending. Honestly I love the availability for happy endings on all ends. When visual novels give more bad endings than good it gets tiresome. Why focus on shock value when you can also give good endings for your players and (cough, cough) your characters. It's a formula we know and love, and Alpha Hole Prison executes it wonderfully. The Extras Alpha Hole Prison packs a punch with its animated love scenes and the option for threesomes in every route. It's clear that the game is unafraid to venture into adult territory, and it does so with confidence and style. It makes you want to keep playing just to get some rare endings. These extras add a spicy edge to the game, making it all the more memorable. Personal Thoughts Alpha Hole Prison may not be reinventing the wheel, but it's a solid addition to the Yaoi visual novel genre. Its stunning art, lively characters, and engaging story make it a worthwhile play. Yes, it has its flaws, but it also has a lot to offer a more sci-fi based Yaoi ride. It's wild with its plot, but it's a ride worth taking. Alpha Hole Prison gets a well-deserved 8 out of 10 from me. Give it a shot - you might just be surprised.

  • "The Coxswain" by Dann Rei and Itoshi - Yaoi Revolution Review

Ready for a series of deep dives into the brilliant catalog of Yaoi Revolution, a publishing house that we're utterly smitten with. Get ready to join us for "Yaoi Revelries" review/article series on Boys Love Universe. First up on our list? The captivating story of "The Coxswain" by Dann Rei and Itoshi. I've been binge reading several books and comics (with my book club) from Yaoi Revolution so expect several reviews every week here at Boys Love Universe. Picture this: the year is 1946, and we're aboard the colossal USS Midway, navigating the cold world of the North Atlantic. Amid the pulsating energy of the ship's crew, our protagonist, Petty Officer Daniel Myers, is trying to make his mark. It's a landscape of blue seas, larger-than-life responsibilities, and hearts full of hopes. Here's the deal: Daniel is untested by war, thrown into the extraordinary task of managing the biggest ship in the world, filled with war-hardened sailors. Then we have the enigmatic Captain Giovanni Bove, a man who carries the weight of his past achievements and battles. The storytelling in "The Coxswain" is nothing short of remarkable. Dann Rei and Itoshi spin a tale filled with raw emotion, each page brimming with a tension that grips you. Watching the relationship between Daniel and Captain Bove evolve is like watching a beautiful sunrise - slow, mesmerizing, and thoroughly rewarding. What sets "The Coxswain" apart is the remarkable writing style. The narrative doesn't rush you, instead guiding you through the events with the smoothness of being carefully-crafted specifically with its drama. Each dialogue, each description, adds depth to the story, offering a blend of the gravity of the situation and a lingering sense of anticipation. It's like having a front-row seat in Daniel's world. We can't talk about "The Coxswain" without gushing over the beautiful artwork. It's not just about the grand depiction of the USS Midway or the precision of the uniforms; it's also about the intimate portrayal of emotions. The art brings a layer of visual storytelling that complements the narrative, making the story all the more engaging. I also want to compliment Yaoi Revolution for the quality of how the images were printed. Most manga/comics I read tend to look faded and dull, but "The Coxswain" was perfectly printed, making the ink pop. And yes, amidst the disciplined environment, there's a romance blossoming. The underlying connection between Daniel and Giovanni. This draws you in one step at a time, making you a part of their world. All things considered, "The Coxswain" leaves a mark. The writing style, the art, the carefully-paced narrative - everything comes together. It's a shining example of the magic that Dann Rei, Itoshi, and Yaoi Revolution bring to the table. As we get prepped for "Yaoi Revelries," we're looking forward to discovering and sharing more gems from Yaoi Revolution. • "I Married a Monster on a Hill" Chapter 1 (Part 1) The Birthday Dilemma Review

We're about to dig into the layered world of "I Married a Monster on a Hill". No fluff, no filter - just raw, honest thoughts from yours truly, Emily, your guide and beta-reader. Chapter One, aptly titled 'The Birthday Dilemma', is where we're thrown headfirst into a quirky, chaotic household nestled atop a hill. At first glance, the lineup seems straight out of a sitcom - Bevvy forgetting an important moving date for August, and August being fooled to sleep in. But then we leave the hill and meet our cast of Thomas, John, Hugh, Malcolm, Scarlett, and Alliard. But don't be fooled, this isn't some shallow comedy where all problems are solved with a laugh track. Each character is a walking, breathing personification of struggle and resilience. Bevvy's one tough cookie, busting his hump caring for August, who's got a mind that's like a maze no one gave him the map to. They're not roomies, their partners and it's way deeper than that. It's about Bevvy trying to keep his head above water while making sure August doesn't sink. Being a caretaker is tough as hell. It's like trying to juggle knives while walking a tightrope. You're so caught up taking care of someone else, you forget about yourself. That's Bevvy to a T. And the move to Thomas' house? That was a last-ditch effort. It wasn't a magic fix, it was a safety net. Even after the move, things are far from easy street. Bevvy's still scrambling, August's still dealing with his stuff. But now, they've got a squad. They've got people in their corner who get it. "I Married a Monster on a Hill" doesn't sugarcoat. It shows the good, the bad, and the ugly of mental health and caregiving. It's not all sunshine and rainbows, but it's not all doom and gloom either. It's about showing the grit it takes to keep going. John and Thomas, our resident psychiatrists, aren't some removed, all-knowing characters. They're knee-deep in the same mud as everyone else, trying to figure their stuff out while helping others do the same. It's messy, it's real, and that's what makes it brilliant. Let's talk about Scarlett, the unexpected ally in this tale. She’s a bright spot amidst the storm, a solid rock when the waves get high. Scarlett’s the proof that allies can be found in the unlikeliest of places, even in a house brimming with eccentricity. Then there’s Bevvy, August, Hugh, Malcolm, and Alliard. Each a unique embodiment of struggle, yet bound by the shared goal of finding balance in the madness. They're stories unto themselves, and we'll get to know them as we journey through this series. "I Married a Monster on a Hill" isn't a light read. It doesn't shy away from the harsh realities of mental health. It's heavily inspired by shows like "Gilmore Girls", "Modern Family", "How I Met Your Mother" and even "Arthur" on PBS Kids all of which focus on the good and the bad and how to solve those problems. Here's to the journey up the hill, one chapter at a time. It's not always easy, but it's always real. And in the end, that's what makes a story worth telling. Stick around, because we're just getting started. Here's to the mess, the madness, and the moments of clarity. Here's to life on the Hill.

  • 7 NSFW Yaoi Games from Itch.io

I've been on a Yaoi game demo binge lately on Itch.io and wanted to review each game I play while also recommending some indies for you guys. To start Let's dive into the intriguing world of "Dead Dating - Your Gay Summer Horror Bromance" (yes, that's a mouthful, but bear with me here). This title had me at murder mystery, but it certainly delivered more than just a whodunit plot. 7 NSFW Yaoi Games from Itch.io "Dead Dating - Your Gay Summer Horror Bromance" Gameplay First things first, the gameplay. In this demo, I was thrown into an isolated mansion, trapped with ten guys (some of whom are admittedly pretty cute), and a killer on the loose. The game's exploration mechanism lets you wander through various areas, discover clues, and collect items that could impact the story. You're not just collecting random stuff for the sake of it, but each item might have clues, unlock secret files, or even affect the outcome of your relationship with these characters. So yeah, explore away! The customization of the player character is a cool touch. You get to choose everything from your name to your haircut, mustache, and eye color. Though it doesn't affect the gameplay, it adds a personal connection to the story. Episodes and DLCs The game is broken down into five normal chapters and a hidden one, aptly named "Episode H." And there's more content promised with three upcoming DLCs. I love the idea of multiple paths and endings; it gives the game replay value, and trust me, you'll want to explore every nook and cranny. Boys, Boys, Boys Now, let's talk about the boys. Different costumes and appearances evolve as the storyline develops. These are not just eye candy but part of item collections that can impact your story with them. It's a fun addition that adds depth to the characters. Lookback Mode and Other Features The lookback mode and Eye of Truth are nice additions, allowing for recall of collected CG and forcing important clues to appear. Auto mode speeds up conversations, which is handy if you're the impatient type like me. Final Thoughts This game, with its multi-layered plot, engaging characters, and interactive gameplay, caught my attention and kept me engaged. It's part murder mystery, part romance, and totally addictive. I'm eager to see how the full version unfolds, and I'll be keeping an eye on those DLCs. "STORAGE" by OOO Alright, let's get into the not-so-subtle realm of "STORAGE" by OOO. Now, before I dig into this, I'll give you a heads-up: this is a clicker game made to simply make bottom-kun (yes canon name) orgasm. It's one of those games that you randomly find but the simplicity of it makes you curious. Reminds me of the Yaoi 'Sensitive Pornograph' but if you know you know. Gameplay "STORAGE" keeps things incredibly straightforward. It's a clicker game. That's right, your primary action is clicking on the screen to make bottom-kun orgasm. But don't be deceived by its simplicity. You play as a boss with, ahem, "other intentions," working alone with bottom-kun to search for documents. Your job? Well, become the boss and make sure the other employees don't catch you in the act. It's as simple and as complicated as that. Feels like a Yaoi OVA based on a manga one shot. Language Support One notable aspect of "STORAGE" is its multilingual support. You can choose from English, Spanish, Chinese (Traditional/Simplified), and Japanese. However, the voice acting is exclusively in Japanese. It's a welcome touch that broadens the accessibility of the game. Animation and Voice Acting Let's talk about the elephant in the room: the voice acting and animation. For a game that relies solely on clicking, it's essential to get these aspects right, and "STORAGE" does a pretty good job here. The animation is engaging enough to keep your attention, and the Japanese voice acting adds an authentic touch that enhances the overall experience. Final Thoughts Okay, let's be clear: "STORAGE" is not going to win any awards for its complexity. But it doesn't need to. It knows exactly what it is and embraces it without apology. It's a guilty pleasure game and knows who the target audience is. "Yarrow Valley" Lovers of the risqué, buckle up because this time we're diving into the world of "Yarrow Valley." This game doesn't hold back, it's cute art may fool you, but I'll put it out there straight away: It's R18+, and it's for adults only. If you're under 18, skip ahead because we're about to break down what makes "Yarrow Valley" a spicy addition to the Boys Love Universe. Honestly if you're not 18+ you shouldn't even be here reading this article or even the website itself so please be aware that all these games are 18+. The Game Itself "Yarrow Valley" offers around half an hour of reading time for the full story, but don't let the brevity fool you; there's plenty to unpack here. We're going to watch Yarrow and Havi's relationship blossom into something quite steamy, complete with two unique sex scenes to choose from. Oh, and did I mention there are three original songs created just for Yarrow Valley? Yeah, the game doesn't skimp on content. The Team Brought to life by the collaboration of Arcade Party and DCS, the duo that teamed up for 2018's Yaoijam, "Yarrow Valley" showcases their strengths. • Arcade Party: Handling story development, script, and programming. • DCS: Taking charge of the story concept, GUI, sprites, CG's, and backgrounds. For fans of the art, supporting DCS on Patreon gives you access to the art book for the game. The Music The soundtrack of "Yarrow Valley" deserves special attention. Created by Agent Ape, the music sets the mood, complements the storytelling, and adds an extra layer of engagement. Check out Agent Ape's Bandcamp and Patreon for more of their work. Language Options This game wants to spread the love, offering versions in French and Spanish. The inclusion of multiple languages is a thoughtful touch that makes the game accessible to more players. Final Thoughts "Yarrow Valley" is filled with passion and an appealing visual design. It's perfect for those who seek a condensed but intense playthrough, with engaging storytelling and well-crafted artwork. This game might be short, but it's anything but shallow. From the story development to the art and music, "Yarrow Valley" serves up an experience that's unapologetically adult and satisfying in its execution. "Seiyuu Danshi ~ After Stories ~" Whew, take a deep breath, because we're about to enter the dynamic world of "Seiyuu Danshi ~ After Stories ~." If you thought that voice acting was just about standing in a booth with a script, get ready to have your mind blown. This 18+ Visual Novel / Dating sim takes us into the life of a voice actor with twists, turns, and a whole lot of choices. So, what's this game all about? Let's break it down! About Seiyuu Danshi ~ After Stories ~ "After Stories" is like an extended universe of Seiyuu Danshi, where additional episodes (66 of them as of April 2023) deviate from the original game's setting. These extra episodes are dished out monthly and are Patreon-funded. The interesting part? The base game alone doesn't do anything. You need to download the episodes to unlock them, and it's as simple as downloading the RPA files and placing them in the right folder (instructions are all there for Windows, Linux, and Mac users). What is Seiyuu Danshi? Welcome to the heart of the voice acting world! In Seiyuu Danshi, you step into the shoes of a newbie voice actor with dreams of winning the year-end Seiyuu Award. But here's the catch: how you reach that goal is entirely up to YOU. Feel like slacking? Go for it! Want to be single forever? That's an option. But remember, every action you take affects the game's outcome. Gameplay What makes Seiyuu Danshi stand out is the lack of typical restrictions you find in ordinary Visual Novels. This game is HIGHLY interactive, offering an open-ended experience where you're in the driver's seat. Work, slack, date, or simply explore - the choices are endless. After Stories Compilation This add-on compilation gives you more of what you loved from the original game but with new angles, perspectives, and episodes. Whether you're seeking SFW content or something a bit more risqué, "After Stories" has something for every fan. Of course I chose the more NSFW routes but it's healthy to see a Yaoi based game also focus on SFW routes. Final Thoughts "Seiyuu Danshi ~ After Stories ~" is an immersive experience. From the captivating storyline to the intricate gameplay, it draws you in and keeps you hooked. The ability to download and unlock new episodes keeps the content fresh and exciting. If you've ever wondered what life as a voice actor is like, or if you're simply looking for a unique and engaging 18+ dating sim, this game will not disappoint. Try out the demo and explore the many paths that await in the world of Seiyuu Danshi. "Baradise Escape" Welcome to "Baradise Escape"! The island is filled with captivating men, each with unique personalities and backstories. From your high school ex to the rugged hunter who might just put an arrow through your heart (literally and figuratively), the choices are vast and tantalizing. Did I mention a merman? Yes, a merman who saves you from drowning is also part of the lineup. The island's dating scene is clearly wilder than your typical Friday night downtown. Danger and Opportunity But it's not all love and romance. The island has its fair share of wild animals and threats lurking in the shadows. Stay alert, craft wisely, and use your survival skills to keep danger at bay. Just remember, there's always time for a little flirtation, even when you're fending off a wild beast. Multiple Endings, Endless Replay Value With so many paths to choose and relationships to explore, "Baradise Escape" offers tons of replay value. You could find love with the merman, settle down with the rugged hunter, or play the field with the other eligible bachelors on the island. The outcomes are vast, and the journey to each ending is packed with excitement and intrigue. Final Thoughts "Baradise Escape" is a delightful blend of survival and dating sim that offers something truly unique in the gaming landscape. The challenges of survival keep the gameplay engaging, while the romantic options add depth and personal investment in the story. "Night and Day" Next up on our journey through the Boys Love Universe, we're stepping back in time to the romantic streets of 1950s Paris. "Night and Day" is an artistic and musical experience, a dating sim visual novel that explores art, coming of age, and the vibrant world of jazz. Grab your beret and your paintbrush; it's time to dive into this bohemian adventure! An Artistic Journey in the Heart of Paris Paul, our aspiring artist, arrives in Paris with dreams of making it big in the world of painting. What he finds is a city alive with creativity, music, and a community of fellow "bohemians" each chasing their unique dreams. Whether they want to become painters, writers, or jazz musicians, they're all striving to live their passion. Love Among the Bohemians But what's Paris without love? As Paul, you'll have the chance to choose a love interest and embark on romantic dates. Your choices will shape Paul's love story, adding a personal touch to his adventure in the City of Love. The dating sim aspect is smooth and engaging, creating genuine connections with the characters. Jazz, Art, and Growing Up "Night and Day" isn't just about romance; it's about growing up and finding your place in the world. Paul's journey is a metaphor for the transition into adulthood, where dreams are pursued, hearts are broken, and lessons are learned. And through it all, the soulful sound of jazz is the soundtrack to this coming-of-age tale. The integration of art and jazz into the storyline adds richness and depth to the game. It's not just a background theme; it's woven into the very fabric of the characters' lives. The combination of visual aesthetics and sound creates a truly immersive experience. A Romantic Adventure to Remember The game takes you on a delightful journey through a time and place where art and love were everything. You'll meet captivating characters, engage in meaningful interactions, and be swept away by the ambiance of Paris in the 1950s. Final Thoughts "Night and Day" offers more than a mere gaming experience; it's a slice of bohemian life brought to your screen. It's about the pursuit of dreams, the exploration of love, and the vibrant dance of art and music. If you've ever dreamed of being a part of the artistic world of the past, this game lets you step into those shoes and live the romance. "Coming Out on Top" "Coming Out on Top" isn't just a game – it's a rollicking ride through the ups and downs, ins and outs of college life as Mark Matthews, and let me tell you, it's not all textbooks and lectures. This game is like that friend who drags you to the party you never knew you needed. Busting Out and Getting Down First things first, Mark's coming out of the closet, and he's doing it with style. You guide him through his adventurous journey as he navigates romance, friendship, and a heap of hilarious hijinks. Ever thought college was boring? Think again. Choice and Charm Now, this isn't your run-of-the-mill click-and-watch game. No, you're in the driver's seat. Your choices shape Mark's experiences, and trust me, there's a lot to explore. Beard or no beard? Body hair or smooth? Right or wrong? The options are all in your hands to choose. Date Night Delight With 6 long routes and 10 unforgettable dates, your social calendar will be packed. And the guys? Oh, the guys! There are 18 of them, each one hotter than the last, and they're all waiting for Mark to sweep them off their feet. The game practically sizzles, and you'll find yourself both laughing and swooning as you play along. Compatibility and Content It's downloadable and compatible with most operating systems, so you can take Mark's escapades with you wherever you go. There's content here that might make your cheeks flush, and I'm not just talking about the jokes. Final Thoughts, Loves "Coming Out on Top" doesn't just give us a game; it gives us a story full of heart, humor, and heat. Whether you're exploring your own coming-out journey or just looking for a fun, engaging experience, this game is like a warm hug from an old friend mixed with a sassy wink from a new crush. To finish off I just wanted to note that these games all bring something different to the Yaoi Genre of gaming. It's a very small industry so it's always a pleasure to discover new games despite how long they have been on Itch.io. If you have any recommendations hit me up in the comments.

  • Why Zael and BLits are Changing the Yaoi Genre for Good

Let's dive head-first into the deep, wild waters of the Boys Love Universe, and trust me, I’ve seen some things. When people think of Yaoi some people cringe. Why? There's a stigma still. Sad I know. It sucks! But every once in a while, there's that one artist that doesn't just float—they freaking sail. Enter the legend: Zael / Zamius. Let’s cut the fluff: Yaoi is not just about abs and booty. We’re talking about raw emotion, storytelling, real drama, and heart-throbbing romance or sex scenes with plot. Zael nails this, every single time. Of course there's the smut, bulges, scenes like "Jock Studio" promises and "Camp Buddy" delivered. But there's something special about Zael and BLits' work. You can't deny it. Zael and one of the Art Geniuses of @blitsblgames Heard of @blitsblgames? If not, where the hell have you been? Zael's been dropping bomb after bomb with art department projects like 'Camp Buddy', direction projects like 'Jock Studio' and even their Patreon Exclusives. Fairy Tail, Fire Emblem, random extras, Zael has collections for some of the biggest Yaoi ships out there. "Camp Buddy"? Let's talk about it. It's the gayest camp in Yaoi, directed and created by Mikkoukun, and a visual novel that inspired tons of independent creators to start creating their own visual novels. But what made "Camp Buddy" shine was taking the raunchy tropes of Yaoi and making it interactive, but in a camp setting. It's got guts. It ripped out a heart, sprinkled some NSFW spice, and handed it over on a silver platter. And God, we’re here for it. All Hail Jock Studio Think Zael would stop there in the art department of BLits? Hell no. Enter #JockStudio. Zael’s not just making art—that art is freaking sculpting Yaoi culture and history here. With BLits steering the ship, you bet it’s a roller-coaster of spiced up Yaoi raunchiness we can't get enough of. With literally raising over $400K and Stretch Goals like "To Shave or Not to Shave" or "Sausage Party", I can't wait to review the game once it releases. Until then expect a ton of articles supporting "Jock Studio" on Boys Love Universe, future gameplays and discussions on how it's broken grounds for Yaoi and the genre as a whole. Kickstarter, Patreon, Gumroad Now, the real tea? Zael's works on Kickstarter? Genius. Patreon with Mikkoukun and Gumroad? They're like the underground clubs of Yaoi. Exclusive, steamy, and unapologetically Yaoi. I especially love the Fairy Tail pieces and am honored to say I've been a supporter for a few years now. People who support BLits games might not know Zael has both a Gumraod and Patreon, but if you want extra content and similar art pieces from "Camp Buddy" or "Jock Studio" please check out the spicy extras. Look, it’s a wild Yaoi world out there. A lot of noise, a lot of faces. A lot of people who genuinely love the genre and the community, and some people who sadly just profit off of it. Sad but it's true. You know the true fans of Yaoi out there. But when it comes to real, gritty, unfiltered Yaoi? Zael’s got a great influence. It's not just about the drawing; but telling stories—dirty, emotional, real-ass stories. Double it up on ass. And in a world full of knock-offs and wannabes, Zael's the real deal. I’m not here to just gush (okay, maybe a little). I’m here to tell you to wake the hell up if you haven’t checked out Zael's work yet. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s gonna make you understand the true power Yaoi has, from kink to fantasy, to just plain Yaoi. We're all adults here. Don't be ashamed of being a fan of raunchy Yaoi like Zael puts out there. Dive deep like "Free: Iwatobi Swim Club", and let Zael show you what Yaoi's truly about. It ain't just a ride, Yaoi is a genre that needs more attention and needs to be respected. Unfiltered and all. Until next time, keep it real. Keep the Yaoi coming.

  • Rating the "Jock Studio" Bulges from Hot to Steamy to Deathly Spicy

This is far different than what I usually write about here on Boys Love Universe, but with "Jock Studio" making waves in the Yaoi community, I just needed to do it. Gather 'round everyone. Let's review "Jock Studio" with a cheeky twist. When you’ve got a lineup of bulges like this, you can't help but get a little... distracted. And yes, we're rating the bulges of each character thanks to Zael's art on Twitter. Thank you for blessing our feed. I might just have to make an account there now to retweet it all. Welcome to Bulge Battles. Rating the "Jock Studio" Bulges from Hot to Steamy to Deathly Spicy Ace Anderson Starting off with Ace, he's the kind of guy you spot from across the bar and think, "Hmm, he’s got a bit of mischief in him. A little indecisive why not?" The way that bulge makes a statement? Subtle, but definitely there. Let's call it a solid hot but slightly steamy. Leo Mendez Now, Leo, this guy exudes a kind of confidence that could make you drop your drink. Playful. Fun. That bulge doesn’t whisper; it declares. We're in hot territory, folks. Avan Geiserford Avan gives off the vibes of that guy who’s great at a dinner party but even better afterward (cause of the drinks). Shy, but subtle. His bulge suggests a mix of mystery yet promise. He's teetering between hot and steamy. You choose where you want to place him. Bryce Callahan Bryce? Think classic hot rod. Oh God that makes sense for this article doesn't it? He's the slow burn that catches you off guard. His bulge plays a bit of a hide and seek, but when you spot it? Definitely steamy. Bigger guy too sooo... Yuuto Nakajima Yuuto's like the surprise plot twist in your favorite book. Just when you think you've figured him out, there’s that bulge making you rethink everything. Another one for the hot category. Zayne Alexander Zayne is not here to play games, people. That bulge is bold. It demands attention and rightfully so. But I still think he's in the hot spot. Derek Kingsfield Closing the list with Derek. That man, with that bulge, is the spice that kicks in when you least expect it. That bulge is king. It's not just hot or steamy; it’s pure, unadulterated extreme spice. Burning spice. Spicy spice. Hottest pepper alive featured on Hot Ones spice. Burn me with that spice! There we have it. This was an inside joke among our writer team and now I was dared to write it. We're all just so excited for "Jock Studio" and for BLits Games' success on Kickstarter. And let's be honest, who doesn’t enjoy a bit of playful analysis now and then? Keep it fun, and also let us know your spice levels for these guys! Until next time! Spice it up! 🌶️🔥
