- Boys Love Universe Membership Now Live
The Boys Love Universe Membership has officially launched , built around direct reader participation and long-form editorial support. This membership is not structured as a traditional subscription since there is no recurring billing, automatic renewal, or locked tier system. Instead, it works on a request basis, allowing supporters to actively shape what gets written. What do you get with the Boys Love Universe Membership? Members receive two article recommendations for each purchase , and those recommendations directly inform the content our writers produce. If you want coverage of a specific Bara title, a Yaoi series, a Furry visual novel, an indie adult gay project, or even your own creative work, you can submit it for consideration. Our team then crafts full-length articles rooted in discussion or analysis depending on what best suits the topic. The membership is designed for readers who care about older internet-style publishing, where essays were allowed to be detailed, reflective, and niche. Boys Love Universe focuses entirely on adult male and male storytelling across fandom media, independent releases, and creator-driven projects. Every recommendation must center on adult gay content so that the editorial voice remains focused and intentional. Joining Supports Our Work as a Digital Magazine Because Boys Love Universe operates independently, member support plays a direct role in keeping the publication creator-driven. Contributions help fund writers, artists, and collaborators while allowing the site to remain selective about partnerships and outside promotions. The goal is to maintain a space where adult gay media is discussed seriously, respectfully, and without pressure to dilute the focus. This membership exists to strengthen the relationship between readers and writers. Later on the membership will include a dedicated membership space, but for now we are starting small. Instead of passively consuming articles, members participate in shaping coverage, spotlighting overlooked creators, and preserving a corner of the internet dedicated to long-form discussion of Bara, Yaoi, Furry, and adult storytelling. - Boardwalk Dad Detox Poster Release Ahead of Kickstarter Launch
The official Boardwalk Dad Detox poster release has arrived, offering the first full look at the upcoming feature-length adult animated film set within the I Married a Monster on a Hill universe . The newly revealed artwork introduces the tone and identity of the project as it prepares for its Kickstarter launch . What is Boardwalk Dad Detox? Boardwalk Dad Detox centers on Jackie, whose drinking is straining the family he built, and Wagner, who is struggling to keep their bond intact before the damage becomes irreversible. While the film has been described as a boardwalk-set comedy, the poster makes it clear that the story will engage directly with themes of addiction, accountability, faith, and forgiveness. Boardwalk Dad Detox Poster Reveal on Boys Love Universe The poster release functions as the film’s first major public presentation, signaling a more serious tonal direction while maintaining the stylized aesthetic associated with the broader universe. Rather than framing the project purely as satire or light animation, the artwork reflects the nature of the story, where humor and personal struggle coexist. Produced by the duo behind All Ages of Geek (Boys Love Universe's parent company), Boardwalk Dad Detox brings together voice talent including Luca Xavier as Wagner and Joey Sourlis as Jackie. Inspired by older Adult Swim style series, the project aims for slice-of-life humor with grounded character work, presenting an adult animated feature that addresses difficult subject matter without stepping outside its established world. Release of the Kickstarter With the Boardwalk Dad Detox poster release now public, attention turns toward the upcoming Kickstarter campaign. Viewers and supporters can sign up to be notified when the campaign launches, marking the next step in bringing this three hour adult animated comedy to life. - Amber’s Quest Announces Kickstarter Launch
Amber’s Quest is preparing to launch its Kickstarter campaign on February 17, 2026 , introducing a mature visual novel set during the early 20th century age of exploration. The project combines historical adventure with adult storytelling, centering on ambition, risk, and the emotional tension that develops in isolation. The premise is straightforward but loaded with potential. In an era driven by fame and imperial ambition, Amber, a young archaeologist eager to make his mark, discovers an inscription pointing toward the legendary Lost City of Caesars. Convinced that this discovery will secure his legacy, he sets out into South America alongside companions Gabriel and Mateo, navigating the dangerous Colorado River in pursuit of myth and fortune. A Historical Setting Framed Around Personal Stakes in AMber's Quest The early 1900s focus is not just aesthetic. It reinforces themes of masculinity and the cultural weight placed on conquest and recognition. Amber’s motivation is not purely academic curiosity. He wants validation and to be remembered. Placing that ambition inside an expedition story creates natural friction. River travel, jungle terrain, and limited resources provide external conflict, while the confined dynamic between three men provides the internal one. And yes, this is a mature visual novel. Emotional and physical intimacy are not treated as afterthoughts. They are integrated into the character arcs, meaning relationship development unfolds alongside survival and discovery. A Mature Visual Novel with Adventure Focus Amber’s Quest positions itself within the adult visual novel space, but it does so through atmosphere with its beautiful backgrounds and character development. Players can expect: A story centered on ambition and legacy Expedition-driven progression through South America Interpersonal tension between Amber, Gabriel, and Mateo Mature themes added to character relationships Adventure, discovery, and of course intimacy The concept feels like a classic expedition fiction piece while openly acknowledging the emotional realities of isolation and pressure. When people are removed from society and placed in dangerous conditions, masks slip. That appears to be a core pillar of this project. As someone who tends to focus on gay media with strong character dynamics, I’m particularly interested in how Amber’s internal drive conflicts with whatever feelings surface during the journey. Expedition narratives have always carried subtext. Amber’s Quest seems prepared to move that subtext into the foreground. Wishlist Amber's Quest and Kickstarter Details Amber’s Quest is currently available to Wishlist on Steam . The Kickstarter campaign officially launches February 17, 2026 , and supporters can pre-save now to receive launch notifications. Geek out with us with our Home Company All Ages of Geek! - Touch Within the Abyss Review: A Story of Redemption and Connection in BL
Touch Within the Abyss is a strong BL with great art and a story that hits with real emotional weight. The plot is intriguing right away, balancing guilt, comfort, and a slow pull toward connection. Chinatsu and Kasumi have an interesting dynamic that keeps the pages turning, and the relationship feels meaningful as the past catches up. Easy to follow, but still deep, good for both new BL readers and experienced fans. Plot-wise, hitman Chinatsu is haunted after a failed job that led to his brother’s death, and the only witness that day was Kasumi, a blind young man who reached out to him instead of turning away. Five years later, a purse-snatching brings them back together, and Chinatsu’s growing feelings clash with the fear that the truth will ruin everything. About Touch Within the Abyss A love story between two lonely people, spun with overwhelming artistic skill. A promising debut work from a new star! "If you knew the real me... you'd be disappointed." Hitman Chinatsu once failed to pull the trigger on his target and it cost him his brother's life. That day, the sole witness who took Chinatsu's trembling hand had clear eyes that stared right through him... straight into the abyss within. Five years later, a purse-snatching reunites Chinatsu with his savior: Kasumi , a young blind man searching for a way out of his own lonely world. Chinatsu knows better than to get involved with a potential witness, but he can't help but be drawn to Kasumi's radiant smile. If Kasumi knew the truth of their provenance, could he ever forgive the sins of Chinatsu's past? Want more BL reviews? Check out our Manga page! - To Kill Eros Interview: Inside the 18+ Dark Fantasy BL Visual Novel
If you are looking for a new game to play and LOVE BL visual novels check out To Kill Eros! We had the pleasure of chatting with the creator to learn more about this visual novel! 1. Tell us about To Kill Eros (BL Visual Novel) To Kill Eros is an 18+ dark fantasy romance where the journey to achieve romance can feel a little deadly! In the heart of a fictional city named Quasimere, you follow the story of Melrose Figueroa—a snappy 28-year-old delivery man whose love life has a track record so horrible that he might actually be cursed. In a world where believing in and praying to Eros, the feeling becomes believable when Melrose is reminded of his entangled history with this god. A tale of love passed down for generations manifests into a beautiful family heirloom, leading to a dangerous, dare I say, petty solution—killing the god of love. 2. What can BL fans expect? Fans can expect an emotionally compelling story that tackles the themes of “Is there someone for everyone?” and “Everyone is deserving of love.” While pursuing the 4 Love Interests, players will have choices to positively or negatively influence Melrose in moments that will either progress the story or immediately spiral it out of control, leading to a bad ending. All endings and all routes are essential and add context to piecing together the overall story and truth of To Kill Eros! 3. Tell us about your characters? Melrose Figueroa sits as the beloved main protagonist! Often foolhardy in his pursuits, a few individuals—his best friend and a landlady—keep him grounded in this world that feels largely against him. More than half of his romantic partners have left him soured and jaded with his love life, but his fire has yet to burn out. It’s at its most desperate hour, and he will almost accept and do anything to feel the love he dreams of. His family heirloom, a fountain pen, fuels this ambition as it exposes him to his new companions—as well as foes! There are 4 love interests! Three of which will give fans an insight into the main story, while the last serves as a bonus. First in line is Icardi—the scouting cupid. A lovable goofball dedicated to his job of matchmaking! While the world around him might not be as friendly and inviting, Icardi is the sunshine in the dark. He is always a good boy. I think those who prefer a sweet relationship will enjoy his route! Second, we have Dr. Love—the love forecaster. A rich CEO and radio host of the popular Lovelife Studio, which also acts as a dating agency for the common folks in Quasimere. Admired for his unnatural beauty and captivating eyes, he may appear to be unapproachable, but that’s merely his appearance. I’ve seen comments about his laid-back nature, and I agree! A romance with him may be more appealing to those seeking a mature and chill relationship. Vitale is the mysterious “god of something”. People don’t know much about him, and he prefers to keep it that way for now. But everything surrounding him is not what it seems. Two things are certain: Melrose falls into his plans regardless of what he does, and Vitale is always watching—mostly anyway. To keep it a mystery, I’ll refrain from giving a vague clue to the type of relationship he’d have, haha! And finally, the last love interest! I’ve had questions about this, but yes, Melrose will date Eros himself. Unfortunately, I cannot tease much about his character compared to the others just yet. However, if fans enjoy an enemies-to-lovers plot, then his route might be pretty fun! Additionally, there are the supporting cast members, ranging from friends, foes and two of Melrose’s exes. But to save from a longer list of introductions, I will say that this cast bounces off each other (Melrose included) colorfully! 4. What are the inspirations behind this game? There are quite a few inspirations, with the first being Greek mythology and the story behind Psyche and Eros. While creating the story for To Kill Eros, I chose an original take regarding the gods and the romance between those two. Another highlighted inspiration is Slow Damage for its depth in conveying a beautiful story featuring massively flawed characters. Even though I don’t believe To Kill Eros wholly matches the intensity of that story, I had to build the characters with nuances so that they aren’t entirely good or evil—most of them, anyway. I do believe that if fans enjoyed that BL, then they may have fun with To Kill Eros as well. To name a few other loose inspirations, I’d say, Virche Evermore (Otome title), Cupid Parasite (Otome title), and After Killing You (Korean Webtoon by Ttangjwi and Mulyang )! 5. What are the goals for this game? Initially, this game started as a passion project for me to finish one of my works. I had only intended to share it with a few friends, especially since I wrote it when I felt most vulnerable with my love life. As I continued to work through it, I believed the story could resonate with others who feel the same to some degree, or even entertain those seeking a new, captivating, and thought-provoking story. In the last question, I mentioned Slow Damage being an inspiration. One thing I remember fondly is the sense of satisfaction I felt upon completing the game. It was very emotional and kept me talking about it fondly, even thinking about the characters and their dynamics long after. The shoes to fill there are large, but if I can evoke a similar reaction that leaves fans feeling satisfied with the story, then I’d consider that a significant achievement. 6. Where can folks support your work? To Kill Eros is currently available on Itch and Steam with a free live demo for fans to play! - The Little Bird Sleeps by the Sea BL Review: A Sweet Story About Grief and Healing
The Little Bird Sleeps by the Sea is a BL one-shot that is sweet, honest, and quietly heavy in the best way. It follows Yuuichi as he becomes guardian to his young nephew, Ayumu, after an unimaginable loss. The story tells proper grief without forced drama, making it easier for readers who have experienced grief to relate to the story line. The move to the seaside and their everyday routine slowly becomes a path toward healing. The cast is warm and easy to care about, especially Ryou, the deli owner whose kindness feels earned, not forced. The art is beautiful and expressive, with calm ocean-side scenes that match the gentle pace. It’s meaningful, comforting, and likely to hit home for anyone who’s had to rebuild after loss. About The Little Bird Sleeps by the Sea This heartfelt, emotional boys love oneshot explores themes of healing from trauma, grief, and family both by blood and by choice. A beautiful tearjerker with immersive, atmospheric art by prolific BL creator Yuu Minaduki. Left devastated after the tragic death of his parents and sister, Yuuichi Tachibana adopts his seven-year-old nephew, Ayumu. Seeking a new beginning, he chooses to move them to a new house with a view of the ocean, hoping for a peaceful setting where they can concentrate on their healing. There they meet Ryou Kurebayashi, who owns a neighborhood deli, and become regular customers. As Ryou and Yuuichi grow closer, learning about each other's unfortunately similarly tragic pasts, they begin to support one another ― and Ayumu ― day by day, building a little family of their own by the sea. - Yaoi Bases Makes BL Poses Easier to Draw - Interview
We had the pleasure of chatting with Yaoi Bases, a one-person project creating hand-drawn SFW and NSFW pose references made with BL artists in mind. Their simple goal is to help artists in the BL space! In this interview, Yaoi Bases breaks down how creators can use the poses, what’s strictly off-limits, and what they’re aiming for next as they keep studying anatomy and improving each new set. 1. Tell us about Yaoi bases Like the name suggests, on Yaoi bases you can find SFW and NSFW hand drawn references for BL artists; no matter whether they’re beginners or experts, they draw for hobby or for a living! It’s a one-man team, so I take care of both the drawing part and the social media management part. I have a very vivid imagination when it comes to world building, story creation or even just imagining my ships having sex (laughs). Despite this, I can barely draw anything properly without a reference, and Pinterest isn’t always helpful… Have you ever had a clear idea of what you wanna draw, then opened Pinterest in hopes to find the “perfect” reference, only to end up endlessly scrolling like you’d do on Twitter or TikTok, and in fact not draw at all? It happened to me a bunch of times, and realized it’s detrimental to one’s attention span other than a waste of time. Also, it’s been polluted with AI, which is upsetting. “Yaoi bases” was born with the above premise in mind: it had to be an easily accessible space for BL artists who need to find references quickly. When I decided on the terms of service of my bases, I thought especially of manga, comic and webtoon artists who are constantly on tight schedules: hence the decision to allow anyone to trace above the references I provide, if they need or wish so; something that I would never allow happening to my actual illustrations that I post on other channels. 2. If a creator wants to use your poses what should they do? It’s quicker to say what they MUST NOT do: remove the watermarks, repost and/or redistribute the poses and feed them into AI: social media are already doing that job themselves… For anything else, everyone is free to use the poses however they like: inspiration, copy, study,… like said above I allow outright tracing as well. As long as it helps an artist’s workflow, any usage is fine! When I went viral recently some people even asked if these poses can be used for M/F or F/F ships and I said yes! Go all out!! 3. What inspired you to create Yaoi bases? I was inspired by two drawn bases accounts in particular. I don’t know if I can name them but they’re pretty popular and have been active for a lot of time already. However, none of them draw poses specifically for BL, so that’s where I jumped in! Most of what I draw is whatever gay ship I’m obsessed with at that moment, and the struggle to find references is real, especially when it comes to sexual poses. Once I read a comment from another famous references account which said something like “we make suggestive poses for the people who don’t want to search actual porn” and I kind of took on the quest as well, haha! In general I’ve always wanted to be helpful to other artists the same way those I look up to have inspired me and improved my art. I don’t feel like I am at a point where I can teach anything, so I found another way to support and help, especially now that for every human made piece of art there’s ten AI generated, and using AI for reference isn’t good. 4. Goals for Yaoi bases? As cheesy as this is going to sound, the goal was to simplify artists’ life, and given the feedback I’m receiving I already achieved it! I do have a few things in mind to implement on my page, but for now I wanna focus on improving the quality of references I deliver (read as: study a loooot of anatomy!) 5. What advice would you give new artists? Oh, there’s a few. I’ll start with saying, pick a handful of artists you really love and study their work. “What do you like in particular? How can you implement their way of seeing reality into your own workflow?” are examples of questions to ask yourself when you analyse an artist’s craft. Following right after: make focused studies. I mean, if you currently want to improve your character art, draw a lot of bodies, leave environments to the side for now. Draw on paper a lot, even better if you use a ballpoint pen or anything else you can’t erase: CTRL-Z has spoiled us into too much comfort. Also it’s good to take your eyes off the screen for a while! In the learning stage, quantity over quality: you learn anatomy better if you sketch a body 100 times, than meticulously refine the tiniest muscles one time. (Not saying you can’t do the latter, I’m saying that’s for another type of work) Lastly, learn to observe and also REST. Many will say you have to draw everyday to improve and while it’s not entirely wrong it’s not super right either. You can’t draw if you don’t know how to observe reality. Also, drawing all day everyday will lead you to wrist and back pain and eye strain. I’ve been there so I know what I’m talking about. It’s okay to take some time off, be it a day, a week or a month; you won’t fall back! If anything, your body will thank you!! 6. Where can folks support your work? Twitter is my main social, but you can find me pretty much anywhere mainstream! The handle is yaoibases everywhere except TikTok which has a dot in the middle. For those who feel generous enough to pledge, there is Patreon and Ko-Fi ! Patreon is where I post many of the NSFW bases I wouldn’t be able to share on social media. Most of them are behind paywall, but even free members have perks like the access to a friendly group chat where I give updates and occasional tips. Ko-Fi exists for donations and SFW archive gallery instead! Geek out with us with our Home Company All Ages of Geek! - Druid of Hungwood Kickstarter Nears Its Final Days
We're back with another Druid of Hungwood Kickstarter update, and yes, what's super exciting is how it's in the final days. The Kickstarter itself has already crossed the point where this feels less like a question of “will it happen” and more like “how far can it go.” Right now, the campaign sits at $94,056 pledged on a $50,000 goal , backed by 1,050 people , with 4 days left . The core game is secured. What’s happening now is about how much extra content and care makes it into the final release. Before reading further please go and support the Druid of Hungwood Kickstarter here to continue supporting authentic bara games. Druid of Hungwood Kickstarter Stretch Goals Already Cleared Side Quests Across Hungwood Most of the side quest stretch goals are already unlocked. Hungwood itself, Shady Prick Forest, Gushing River, and Turgid Mountain are all confirmed. That’s a lot of extra areas to explore, extra scenes to uncover, and more time with characters who absolutely know how to hold attention. The campaign has shown a lot of potential like the Orc Covenant and Dear Monster past campaigns, which carries real weight if you’ve followed bara game Kickstarters for any length of time. With the rarity of bara games listed on the platform Y Press Games has been carrying the torch for years. It's why these stretch goals will also support not just the studio, but the artists and creators in the bara space. Prime example is Dopq, an extremely well-known Asian bara artist who has done the key artwork for Druid of Hungwood while being the co-creator, concept designer, and project manager. Stretch Goals Still in Reach What Comes Next if Funding Climbs The next goals are sitting right there: $95,000 opens the Desert of Phallicies side quest $100,000 adds the Crevice of Darkness, completing the side quest list across every map After that, the focus shifts to Live2D animated CGs. First for love interests, then for party scenes, and eventually for every major CG in the game. That’s the kind of addition that changes how scenes feel, not just how they look, because animation impacts emotion and escapism. Why the Druid of Hungwood Kickstarter is Trustworthy and a Push Forward for Bara Fans A Studio With a Proven History The Druid of Hungwood Kickstarter is coming from a studio that already knows how to finish what it starts. It's as simple as that. It's why Y Press Games also carries the weight of trying out new project mediums, adding RPG to the mix of an already long, lore-based game. Y Press Games has funded and delivered many successful Kickstarters over eight years with no missed releases or vague updates. In adult indie games, that kind of consistency matters more than promises ever could because of the lack. Some studios create bara "inspired games" or actual bara projects, but don't deliver or even give updates. Y Press Games has a dozen finished games showing their dedication to the craft. That shows trust. A Bara RPG That Treats Gameplay Seriously Systems That Actually Matter Druid of Hungwood is an actual RPG. Combat matters. Party roles matter. Exploration matters. The lust mechanics add choices which keep encounters interesting rather than gimmicky. You can fight, flirt, or mix the two, and the game doesn’t push you toward a single “right” way to play. Party Members Who Exist Beyond Romance Characters With Roles and Relationships The party system is where everything settles into place. Companions are not just romance options waiting for a switch to flip. They have combat roles, personalities, and relationships with each other. Even characters you don’t pursue still live in the world and interact with others. The story doesn’t collapse entirely around the player, and that balance makes the setting feel active instead of staged. And yes. The men are big. Broad shoulders, thick arms, strong silhouettes. While it's obviously a treat, the true excitement for Druid of Hungwood comes from escaping into a story's lore as thick as its men. Why Continued Support Still Matters for Druid of Hungwood What Extra Funding Actually Adds Even though the game is funded, continued backing still shapes what makes it into the final build. Extra side quests mean more character time. Animated CGs mean scenes that linger instead of flashing past. Wishlist goals also signal that there’s room for more bara RPGs that treat gameplay and adult content with equal care. A Project Built on Y Press Games' Confidence The Druid of Hungwood Kickstarter doesn’t feel like it’s making empty claims. There are only a few days left. The game is happening either way. What’s still up in the air is how deep the final version goes. The question is are you backing and hoping that next stretch goal clears before the timer runs out? - Gaydorado : A Gay Male Dating Game With Big Men and Chatrooms
Gaydorado is a gay male dating game with bara style that knows exactly what kind of audience it’s talking to. Big men, confident stances, broad chests, and that very intentional “men looking at men” energy? Gaydorado leans into male x male attraction with a steady hand and a calm confidence that makes everything feel natural instead of forced. It feels like a space where masculine desire is allowed to exist without being watered down. That alone already makes it stand out in the world of gay mobile games. Gaydorado as a Gay Male Dating Game With Bara Style Gaydorado earns its place as a gay male dating game because it puts male bodies and male attraction front and center without hesitation. The influence of bara art is visible in the way characters are drawn with thickness, strength, and presence. These men are built to be admired by other men, and the game doesn’t pretend otherwise. The designs focus on power and confidence, but they also carry warmth. It’s that mix that makes everything work. You get the strong visual appeal without losing emotional connection. Which is good, because if it were only about muscles, I’d probably be too distracted behind my screen the whole time to play the actual game. Male x Male Attraction as the Foundation Male x male attraction is the foundation of Gaydorado, not an optional feature. Romance, marriage, fashion shows, and chat systems are all built around men connecting with men. The characters look at each other with intention and curiosity, which makes every interaction feel personal. There’s no coded language or soft implication. This is direct. Men want men. Men choose men. Men celebrate men. That clarity is refreshing and honestly a little bold for a mobile game. Masculinity in Many Forms in Gaydorado The game does something really important by showing different expressions of masculinity. You have authority figures, gentle partners, confident leaders, and shy romantics all sharing the same space. Power, Authority, and Dominance The bosses and agents bring strong dominant energy into the game.
