Y Press Games’ Unique Patreon Offering

Y Press Games has just launched a brand new Patreon(and back- up Subscribe Star) to offer monthly episodes of their new game Monster Ops. Episode one of the series was released for free on Steam and Itch.io.

Monster Ops, an NSFW gay visual novel featuring military bros Wraith and Tide (completely unrelated to Ghost and Soap from COD) will come out in 1-2 hour game installments monthly.

You can get episode 2 of Monster Ops for $5 and as soon as August 2024, but that’s only if you subscribe to their Patreon or Subscribe Star. Otherwise, you can get future game episodes for $7.99 each starting in January 2025. Hence, being a subscriber will give fans episodes 6 months early and for $2 less than retail.

In Monster Ops the plucky lieutenant Tide has been drafted onto a military taskforce that hunts monsters who’ve escaped from a top-secret experiment. He joins the no- nonsense veteran soldier Wraith and the peaceful human-loving monster Balasque.

Tide’s past screw-ups make him a questionable choice for the high-stakes black ops, but he’s determined to prove himself to Wraith. Will their bond as battle- brothers evolve into something more?

Prior to the game series, Y Press Games used their Patreon as a way for fans to save up their balances and cash in later during their Kickstarters. This set-up failed to catch on, but the 36 early backers are ‘grandfathered’ in to keep that benefit so long as they don’t change their reward tiers.

The new project is an attempt to diversify the company’s income, so they aren’t so reliant on their main vendor. The project will continue to run indefinitely, provided subscriber milestones are met. Annual season premieres will be free.
