If your digital manga library has been looking a little thin lately, the current Irodori Comics sale gives bara and BL readers a good excuse to fix that. The Irodori Comics Bara Manga Sale includes discounts across a pretty large selection of digital works, including titles from artists BL readers may already know very well.
Irodori Comics Bara Manga Sale: Featured Artists
The sale runs through September 7th, and rather than throwing every discounted book into one enormous list, we wanted to focus on five artists whose catalogs are worth checking out: naop, Mentaiko Itto, Maemuki na Doemu, Pain, and Banjyaku.
There is another reason we like sales like this beyond getting manga cheaper. Buying officially localized digital releases is one of the most direct ways readers outside Japan can financially support the people making this work. Irodori itself has previously described its sales and digital releases as a way for readers to purchase officially localized works while supporting Japanese doujinshi artists.
So, if you've been waiting to grab something from one of these creators, here's what to look for before September 7th.
naop
If you've spent any amount of time browsing Irodori's bara and gay manga selection, there's a decent chance you've run into naop. The big one is Howling Hound. There are currently five entries in the series, and the sale makes starting from the beginning considerably cheaper. Howling Hound 1 through 4 are listed at 30% off, while Howling Hound 5 is 20% off.

Mentaiko Itto
Mentaiko Itto probably needs very little introduction for longtime bara readers. If you're newer to bara manga, though, this is a name worth knowing.
We've already talked about Gachinko Battle: Balls-to-the-Wall, Midnight Rescue, and Swift as Lightning on Boys Love Universe, and the Irodori catalog goes quite a bit further.
The Priapus series is the biggest chunk of the selection, with six entries available. During the sale, Priapus is 50% off, while Priapus 2 and Priapus 3 are 30% off. The later volumes are also available if you decide to keep reading.
There are some other good places to start. Holy Night, One Fourth, and The Boy Who Cried Wolf are listed at 20% off. Midnight Rescue, Swift as Lightning, and Gachinko Battle: Balls-to-the-Wall are also part of Mentaiko Itto's digital catalog.
For readers specifically searching for established bara artists, Mentaiko Itto is one of the first names we'd check during this sale.
Maemuki na Doemu
Maemuki na Doemu has the kind of catalog where you might want to set aside some browsing time before deciding what you're actually buying.
The Puppy Play With Papa books make up a huge part of it. The first four numbered releases are 70% off, with Puppy Play With Papa 1 through 3 at $2.18 each and the fourth at $2.39 based on the sale prices provided to us. Volumes 5 through 7 are also discounted.
Then there's the related Puppy Play With Papa: What the Cat Dragged In series. The first five entries are 60% off, with later installments receiving 50% discounts.
Outside of those series, readers can check out Average Men Go Wild: 100 Scenarios, Returning the Favor, Doggy Style, The Daddy Trap, and The Household Favorite series.
There's a lot here, particularly if you prefer following recurring characters rather than buying one standalone manga and moving on.
Pain
Pain has a much smaller Irodori catalog than some of the other artists on this list, which actually makes this one pretty easy to browse.
The available works include Enchain, Scars and Medals of Honor, Slumber, and The Blade Kingdom's Prince and His Attendant: Short Scenes.

If opening an artist page with twenty different volumes gives you decision paralysis, Pain is the opposite situation. You can look through the available works pretty quickly and see which one grabs you.
Banjyaku
Banjyaku is another artist we've already featured on Boys Love Universe, particularly through Heat Wave -REBUILD VERSION- and Midnight Rendezvous.
Both are included in the current sale. Heat Wave -REBUILD VERSION- is 30% off, dropping from $11.25 to $7.88, while Midnight Rendezvous is 60% off, dropping from $10.25 to $4.10.

These are official releases.
For international bara and BL fans, buying an officially localized digital copy means you're supporting licensed distribution rather than relying on unofficial uploads.
Irodori's digital releases can be read through its online reader, and its digital downloads are offered as high-resolution PDFs without DRM.
That matters for a niche like bara manga, where many artists still aren't easy to find through mainstream English-language manga stores.
