How to GROW a MAN: 7 Men, 7 Routes and Your Choice of Top or Bottom
We had the chance to chat with the team behind How to GROW a MAN, a fantasy BL life and dating simulation where your choices shape Chris’s future, career, and relationships. With seven romance routes, reversible top and bottom dynamics, and plenty of character-driven moments, the game gives BL fans a lot of freedom in how each romance develops.
1. Tell us about your project.
How to GROW a MAN is a fantasy BL life and dating simulation that began with a sweet little fantasy:
“What if you could shape a man’s future to suit your own tastes?”
You guide Chris through four years of study, work, exploration, and romance, helping him find his place in the world. Along the way, he can fall for seven very different men, from a childhood friend who happens to be a prince to the dangerous king of the backstreets.
And with every one of them, you decide whether Chris is the top or the bottom. You don’t have to settle for a fixed role just because it comes with your favorite man.
2. What can BL fans expect from this project?
Seven romance routes, different kinds of chemistry, and the freedom to explore both top and bottom dynamics with every pairing.
The top/bottom choice affects more than intimate scenes. It changes dialogue, events, character reactions, and how the relationship develops. You can return to someone you already love and discover a different dynamic that you enjoy just as much—or perhaps even more.
You also get to build Chris’s life around the romance. His career and other choices influence his ending, so the future the two of them share matters too.
Expect humor, tenderness, romantic tension, and characters whose first impressions don’t tell you everything.
3. Tell us about the characters.
Chris meets seven men with very different personalities and lives:
Aster is a dignified dragon knight devoted to his duties. Because he usually keeps his emotions in check, the moments when Chris unsettles his composure are especially appealing.
Francis is a devout clergyman whose faith and self-discipline are challenged by forbidden desire.
Leo is a prince and Chris’s childhood friend. His route explores that delicate moment when someone familiar begins to mean something entirely new, and friendship turns into love.
Lulu is a bright, adventurous traveler from a distant land, searching for the treasure of Gayrn. His free spirit and curiosity bring fresh energy to Chris’s world.
Rowell is a mature count with restrained manners and feelings that aren’t easy to read. His appeal lies in discovering what is hidden beneath that calm exterior.
Cesare rules the backstreets. He’s intimidating and accustomed to being in control, but even he has vulnerabilities he would rather keep hidden.
The Demon King is a mysterious figure with an unexpectedly innocent side. His connection to memories of the past gives his story a particular emotional depth.
We hope players start with a clear idea of their type, then find themselves falling for someone they never expected.
4. What are the romantic relationships like between the characters?
The romance routes center on Chris and the partner the player chooses, with each pairing bringing its own emotions and atmosphere. Leo offers the closeness of friendship turning into love. Francis brings the tension between lies and truth. Cesare offers the attraction and uncertainty of getting close to someone dangerous.
Relationships develop through encounters, conversations, and choices within Chris’s daily life. Where he goes and the kind of person he becomes help shape the story you experience.
Reversible top and bottom roles add another dimension. A character’s appearance or status doesn’t lock him into a particular role. The dialogue and emotional progression change with the relationship dynamic you choose.
We want players to enjoy the excitement of getting to know someone, then discover that there is still another side of him waiting to be explored.
5. The name is iconic. How did you decide on the game name?
Thank you! The title came from a very personal BL fan fantasy: “I want to raise a man who is exactly my type.”
That means more than his appearance. It includes the abilities he develops, the life he leads, and the romances he experiences. How to GROW a MAN puts that wish right in the title.
We also liked the playful quality of making it sound like a how-to guide. Everyone has a different idea of their ideal man, so naturally, everyone’s instructions would be different. In our game, you get to write your own
