A Chat with Yaoi artist Chiba

1. Chiba Tell us a little about yourself and work?

I've been an artist professionally for 3 years. I mainly work as a 2D character concept for game characters. I also have 2 years of experience working on a Japan card game. When I have free time, I sometimes receive commission requests. Mostly NSFW BL illustrations, which I really love but rarely got the opportunity to work on professionally.

2.Tell us about being an artist?

As long as I can remember, I've always wanted to be an artist that can put all my imagination on paper beautifully.

3.What inspires your work?

Badass and sexy vibes has always been my favorite theme to work on. However, the longer I work in the industry, the more I realize there are a lot more interesting stuff to draw so now I can't really say what specific thing inspires me. I guess I'm pretty open to anything.

4.What does pride month mean to you?

About this, I'm not in the community, to be honest, so I don't have much to say. However, I'm just a happiness supporter :') Within this month, I get a lot of positive vibes and true bliss (even though some maybe short) from LGBTQ+ community. Everytime I see a couple's happy story, I really am happy for them and even gain energy from it. It's a beautiful month.

5.Where can people support your work?

I'm not yet fully a freelance artist so I'm only active here on twitter. I use it to share my arts, support other artists and reach out for clients.

6.Tell us about anything you want! Can be something you are working on, something positive, or something totally random!

Working in the game industry, being able to learn a lot and experience quite a lot of things, I realized I love working on BL a lot. That's why I reached out to you ^u^ Above, I said I'm pretty open to anything but that's a skill for me to make a living, could not be picky when I didn't have much to choose :'D I learned how to work on anything whole-heartedly, as long as I'm well-paid and my client is happy. Though, as most artits, I have some themes I'm not familiar and comfortable to work on: Mecha, horror, goro.
