Addressing the Yaoi and Boys Love Dilemma: The Mission of Boys Love Universe

Hey there, BL and Yaoi enthusiasts! It's Emily once again. Today, I want to dig into a topic that's been simmering on my mind for a while. Have you noticed how Hentai and Yuri content are freely available online, yet Yaoi and Boys Love content face much stricter scrutiny and sometimes outright bans? The double standard is pretty glaring.

In mainstream Shounen manga, intimate scenes between cisgender couples are commonplace. However, the depiction of relationships between two men often sees far more hesitation, if not resistance, from publishers and platforms. This disparity sends an insidious message: gay relationships and the stories about them are somehow less valid or acceptable. This is not only frustrating but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes.

Fortunately, this isn't a mere rant, but a call to action. That's precisely where Boys Love Universe (BLU) steps in.

BLU is a platform that champions all love stories, especially those enchanting and sometimes spicy narratives we find in the world of Boys Love and Yaoi. Our goal is to provide a safe space for BL and Yaoi fans, free of judgement and censorship.

How are we going to do this, you ask? Let me elaborate.

First, we'll support and champion BL publishers exclusively by focusing on their press and spreading the word about their work. No matter the spectrum of their content—from light-hearted sweetness to mature themes—we aim to provide reviews of Yaoi and BL to cater to all tastes.

Secondly, BLU won't shy away from promoting open discussions about Boys Love and Yaoi. We want to address the complexities and challenges within these genres, dispel stereotypes, and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of BL.

And then, there's the exciting project we've been working on: "I Married a Monster on a Hill." It's a universe of multimedia stories centered predominantly on BL content. The official website for IMMH will also include Yaoi stories in all forms of media. Our hope is that these stories will be a source of representation, validation, and celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, much like Yaoi has been for me during my personal journey.

Over the past year, I've experienced significant changes. I parted ways with my girlfriend, and through introspection, I discovered that I identify as ace/aro. Yaoi has been a comforting presence through these transitions, a testament to the power of these narratives.

BLU isn't merely an article hub. We're a multimedia platform where discussions occur in real-time. Our founders and crew, who are even more as passionate about this genre as I am, will run most of our videos and podcasts. We're excited to bring you content that transcends the written word, inviting more interactive and engaging ways to enjoy the BL universe. I know I sound dramatic, but there's just not enough love for Yaoi out there.

Our mission at BLU is unwavering. We strive to be a beacon of acceptance and love in the world of Yaoi and Boys Love. All stories deserve to be told.
